Location brilliant Upstairs lovely Down stairs small for 10 people not enough seats

We were a group of 8 celebrating a birthday. The house was in a great location, with fab facilities. The hot tub was a great plus point. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the house. Andrea met us and explained things when we arrived, and was on hand if we needed anything.

Had a really relaxing weekend away with friends, porthole had everything we needed and great location.

Andrea, the owner, is lovely and very friendly. She went out of her way to accommodate us with a special request we made and provided us with a fantastic welcome basket thank you so much! The Porthole is well situated with easy access to the shops, pubs, bars & restaurants. The accommodation is excellent for friendsfamily gatherings and is spacious with a wellequipped kitchen coffee machine scored a lot of points! The icing on the cake is large hot tub which we thoroughly enjoyed & used a lot! I would have no hesitation in recommending The Porthole.

Andrea met us at the property and was really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The welcome basket and fresh milk and eggs were a lovely touch. The beds were comfy, the towels fluffy and kitchen was incredibly well equipped. It's such a short walk into the town centre that we could enjoy a leisurely stroll between the rain showers! All in all, fantastic attention to detail, a well maintained property in a great location and a friendly host. It was perfect for our hen party and we have a very happy bride!

Lovely place would definitely stay there again

Lovely house, perfect for family get together. Near Holmfirth centre and close to attractions. Had everything we needed. Loved the hot tub after a long busy day at Cannon Hall farm. Had a great meal in Old Bridge Inn to celebrate our daughters 40th. The only downside was that all the outside bins were already full so had to leave our rubbish just at the side of the bins.

We have just had a weekend at The Porthole, please thank the owners, we have had a lovely time and they have a wonderful house, 10 of my family stayed this was for my grandchildrens birthdays one was 21 and one was 18, it has been a very memorable weekend, the house is in a perfect location to explore Holmfirth and we would definitely stay again. Thank you

We loved staying at the Porthole! The property was lovely and clean, the beds and bedrooms are very comfortable, we all slept perfectly, and the welcome package was a nice addition! The garden is great, its very large, clean, and has a large hot tub too. It is in a great location in a very nice village with plenty cafes, shops, a Lidl, coop, etc. Thank you & we would definitely return!

A fantastic weekend away with friends to celebrate our 50th birthdays. Accommodation excellent in a fantastic location. Stunning scenery and great bars and restaurants all on the doorstep.

We had an absolutely amazing stay! The house is so well equipped and in such a convenient location. There is plenty of parking available. Every room was clean and really nicely decorated. The hot tub was a particularly good feature. We would definitely return and would definitely recommend to others!

Fabulous property for our ladies weekend away . Perfect position for walking and also making the most of Holmfirth without using the cars. Lovely to relax in the Hot tub . Highly recommend .

Excellent property and meet and greet. Great location for town and the facilities in the Porthole were excellent. Especially the coffee machine. Beautifully appointed and presented property, close to the heart of Holmfirth. We had a family Xmas break there and the nine of us and a dog thorougly enjoyed ourselves. We were greated with a warm welcome and our comfort was clearly a high priortity our hosts were attentive to any needs whilst not being intrusive. The children, even in the midst of winter, put the hot tub as their favourite feature.

Had an amazing time and would be very happy to return. Hosts are hospitable and quick to respond and the house was clean, comfortable and in a lovely location.

Beautiful property in excellent location, walking distance into Holmfirth and a supermarket 2 minutes away. Hot tub nice and warm with lighting for use in an evening. All amenities available in the kitchen including a fabulous coffee machine! Owner and maintenance team very responsive to callsmessages and provided all relevant information. Would definitely recommend and return for another stay.

Really lovely house, well equipped and maintained and brilliant location. the welcome basket of goodies was a nice touch too. Hot tub was nice and clean. Coffee machine was very posh and made really delicious coffees! highly reccomend staying here. Andrea was a very attentive host.

Generally this is good accommodation in a convenient location for the town centre. Its a lovely little house with four bedrooms, a well kitted kitchen and small dining area plus a nice little garden and hot tub. Some downsides were disappointing though the TV reception is awful. Can only get the two main BBC channels, no ITV and barely any freeview channels. To many people this might not matter if youre happy to sit with a book or out a lot. However we were staying with older parents who were very keen to watch their favourite TV shows whilst we were out elsewhere, and shows wed planned to watch together we couldnt. Wed also planned to watch specific sports events which we couldnt so needed to go out searching for bars showing it. I reported this on day one but no comment was given and nothing fixed so I assume its a regular problem. the internet seemed a bit temperamental, it didnt work for the first 24hrs or so, which was annoying as two of us are self employed and couldnt do our workdial into meetings. Given the tv situation it also prevented us watching anything digitally. there were a lot of spindley spiders around in many of the rooms when we arrived which suggested there hadnt been any cleaning with feather dusters to get corners etc. a few of our party hate spiders so this was a bit of a problem! the dining room is pretty small and was a struggle to fit six people round a table comfortably, and theres only two stools at the breakfast bar, so a lot of us were left stood leaning against worktops a lot. Similarly the lounge is homely and comfy but once you have more than 45 people it becomes a bit of a squeeze. Id say with a few really minor improvements this would go from 3 to 45 star, it feels a shame such a nice property was let down by really basic things.

We spent a wonderful weekend at The Porthole as a group of friends. Andrea kept us well informed with some great recommendations for places to eat locally and we had a lovely welcome basket. Porthole has a well equipped kitchen & homely features with a selection of fun board games, which we enjoyed. Location is also a short walk from town where there are lots of lovely places to eat & drink, especially Harveys, which was fabulous! Overall, we couldnt fault the accommodation or host as both were great, very happy customers!

Stunning. This house was just beautiful. We stayed with my children, gram babies and a dog. Everything is really fantastic quality. From the electric appliances we like to cook from the comfy beds to the towels. It was spotless as well. There was a suggestion box but we couldnt think of a thing to add because we were so pleased. Cant wait to book again

Well equipped especially in the kitchen area, all 8 adults pleased with facilitys and cleanliness and location. All wanted to return to Porthole same time next year. Possible marking of bins in kitchen would be helpfull. ie Recyclable, list of items for recycling. General waste. A soft sweeping brush.

We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful, cosy house, close to amenities yet sufficiently tucked away to feel private and secluded. We loved the layout of the house. Perfect for our group of four women. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub after long walks to the local vineyard and in the countryside, despite it being February. Andrea couldn't have made us feel more welcome!! Thank you so much.

This was a fabulous property, the host was friendly and gave us plenty of local reccomendations. The house was fully equipped with everything one could need for a lovely weekend with friends! Would definitely reccomend and will be looking to head back again in the future.

We had a fantastic weekend. The house was so lovely and great location, minutes walk down into the town. The kitchen came equipped with absolutely every utensils you can think of along with a built in coffee machine and huge American fridgefreezer. The house was spotless, well kept and looked after. Plenty of parking we parked 3 cars on the private drive and there is Space for cars outside the house too if needed. The outdoor decking area with hot tub we loved! Even managed to sit out in the sunshine Saturday afternoon on the sun loungers next to the hot tub. Thank you ! We will definitely be returning.

This is a great property in a lovely village. It was just about large enough to house 10 of us at an affordable price fo a lovely weekend. Andrea was very accommodating and very helpful , the property has everything you would need. There are a few minor improvements including outside lighting for use of the hot tub at this time of year, and an absorbent mat by the back door as this is the only entrance point, otherwise a lovely break in a lovely place

The houses layout, decor, furnishings, and facilities were all excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and loved the house and location. A special mention to Andrea and the chap who came to clean the hot tub, as they were excellent hosts, being very friendly and informative local pubs restaurants walks etc..

This is a beautiful house with amazing amenities and great location in close proximity to bars and restaurants and plenty of walks. Andrea greeted us at the property with a very generous hamper basket filled with goodies and gave us a tour of the house & garden, showed us how the hot tub works and recommended a few places to try while in Holmfirth. The house is perfect for a weekend getaway, large, clean & very well equipped with everything you might need. The hot tub is very spacious & easy to use. We had a lovely time and couldnt recommend the Porthole and Andrea enough. Thank you very much for your hospitality
