Beautiful home! We all loved our stay and found the house to be the perfect walking distance in Holmfirth. We thought the house was beautifully presented and found Andrea to be wonderfully helpful. The welcome basket was a lovely little treat too we added the cork to the collection before we left!. The space this house provides is unreal and the basement is like a hidden gem all in itself. Thank you for having us, we had a beautiful weekend.

The Old Post Office was beautiful and a perfect spot for us to stay to visit the local area and unwind. I would definitely recommend for large groups and families.

The Old Post Office is a very spacious, comfortable and relaxed place to stay with a large group or family, as we were. The managers communicated well and were very helpful before and during our stay. We enjoyed our Christmas there and our grandchildren had fun in the games room, and in the garden, and we all enjoyed the large rooms and spaces. The house is a little bit worn around the edges, which suited us but that may not please everyone. It is in a residential area which was peaceful and only about 15 minutes walk into Holmfirth.

The accommodation was spot on. Lovely property with lots of character and all amenities we needed. The property was spotlessly clean, the beds were so comfortable and the bedding was immaculate. The games room and hot tub were brilliant. All our family had a fabulous time. The house is ideally situated for Holmfirth and the local pub. Special thanks to Andrea and Zack who came straight out when we had an issue with the heating. Thanks also for our welcome pack, it was a lovely touch. I would definitely stay here again.

Me and my family, 11 of us, stayed at the old post of for 3 nights for the New Year 2026. Its an absolutely stunning home with lots of space with a cosy log burner. Holmfirth is on the door step and literally 1520 minute walk which is well worth it. Lots of lovely traditional pubs and shops and the famous Sid's cafe. A beautiful, traditional place with lots of English heritage, something that feels quite rare in todays society. The ensuite bedrooms are great and all of them are big and spacious. The 2 free standing baths are really nice to have and so relaxing. The dining area was great for us as there was 11 of us. A couple of things definitely need updating and as a family we agreed on this and having seen several reviews people have felt the same. It is a very costly home to rent and having stayed at a few holiday homes for a similar price we felt it was in need of some new additions and upgrades as there is lots of wear of tear starting to appear. Although it is a very lovely home the rugs and furniture are in need of some attention either deep cleaned or replaced The games rooms was a bit of a let down, it is a very small pool table and the table tennis is just a piece of ply wood on top of it with a net it is not straight and not enjoyable if u are very sporty and competitive. The dart board definitely needs replacing its not got much board left and has lots of wear and tear. The snug is gorgeous but there is no wi fi in it so you cant watch tv as it just buffers all the time we did take our own fire stick tv as there was a large group of us including 4 kids and to have 2 sitting rooms was what we wanted but as i have said we couldn't enjoy it. One thing to solve this would be a booster. The bathroom downstairs in the snug is gorgeous and it is a shame we couldn't enjoy that section of the house as much as we should have done given the price and what it was offering. The hot tub has some slight malfunction with it, the first night it was up to 46 degrees for some strange reason and it was like sitting in a volcano there was only me who could bare it but i wanted to get my moneys worth and enjoy it. We had to reset the temperature to 40 and it was no longer an issue the next day, very strange as it doesn't have 46 degree temperature on it so could be worth looking into as it could be very dangerous i couldn't let the kids in it that night. The hot tub is in need of one new head cushion aswell which again for the price we paid for the home should be done. It is a lovely home and if these issues where to be addressed it would be well worth the money and visiting again but if we where to book a again we would want these areas that i i have highlighted addressed. There's a lot of competition with holiday homes and they can be very expensive and we have possible spent as a family 6000 for 3 days and for that price there shouldn't be these small minor issues and can be easily addressed.

Lovely house ideal location 15minutes walk into Holmfirth. Met at the property on arrival and shown round which was great, good communication prior to arrival and during our stay at the property. The house was well equipped beds comfy and large table for us to eat at was perfect, 14 of us stayed for 3 nights. Outside area was a real bonus hot tub was great and the outside area with heaters enabled us to eat outside. Excellent parking area for several cars. Plenty of walks from the house.

We had a lovely weekend at athe Old Post Office. The property is well looked after & very comfortable for a large group, we were 3 children & 11 adults. We made us of the games room, hot tub & BBQ. Everyone said they slept very well & the bed were very comfy. We walked into Holmfirth itself & that took atleast 15minutes via the flatish walk. We had drinks at The Shoulder of Mutton & the food here looked really good too. We would return to this property, it was a great place to spend the weekend!

The house was wellequipped with lots of thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper, dishwasher tablets. The furnishings and decor were nice and the outdoor deck was lovely and was used every day. However, the house is showing some wear and tear and needs some attention broken chair, bbq with only 3 wheels, broken door on oven and one burner not working. Particularly disappointing was the downstairs games room as none of the equipment was usable and one of the reasons we chose this property for a family get together. Also, the ovens and bbq were not clean. We feel the price we paid for the week was too high because of the shortcomings.

Had a fantastic stay we more or less lived outside the undercover seating hot tub sun beds was fabulous great location nice walk into Holmfirth all in all this house is fabulous for a family holiday and we will definitely be returning must mentioned the host there to greet us and always there if we needed anything thankyou for a lovely stay.

Absolutely amazing house for all 14 of us. Very comfortable beds, excellent kitchen facilities and bbq, hot tub and outdoor space brilliant. Ample parking and EV a bonus, we had a wonderful long weekend.

We had a very good family holiday at the old post office. The property suited our needs and there was plenty to do in Holmfirth and the surrounding area.

We went as a family for a 70th birthday celebration. The home and outside area was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely building with lots of original features, comfy and clean with well stocked cupboards, I. E lots of cups plates etc, lovely outside dining area with welcomed heaters on a chilly night

This is a great property in a great location, and perfect for our annual holiday with three families. We had a lovely inperson welcome when we arrived and Holmfirth itself is a picturesque town with lots of places a short drive away.

The house was lovely. Very spacious and just as described. The location was perfect.

Fantastic house in a brilliant location hot tub was really good and enjoyed by us all. Farmers pub round the corner is welcoming, elephant & the castle in town is also really nice. Lovely village and all 10 of us ages 4 76 had a lovely Xmas there!

This is an excellent house for a large group there were 13 of us It has a lovely warm atmosphere and is very cosy. Every where was scrupulously clean, including all the crockery and glasses. Parking is easy at the house, though it's only about a 10 minute walk down into Holmfirth and there is a bus back up the big hill . There's also an excellent pub The Farmers Arms just around the corner.

The old post office was a great holiday house to stay in. There were 14 of us in total and two dogs ranging from age four to seventy. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and plenty of ensuites to keep everyone happy. There was plenty to explore in the local area and we even joined in a pub quiz at the local pub Farmers arms. We took up the recommendation of eating out at Harveys as a family and really enjoyed our time. Being a large family we did cook and eat frequently at the house, the dining room was a great space to eat together I would say that a little time and effort is probably needed to restock the house with updated kitchen appliances, but a huge bonus was the use of two dish washers, as a big family this was much needed. The communication was excellent from the hosts and all in all we had a wonderful family holiday in Holmfirth. One little niggle worth noting was that the washing machine was not in full repair and had a faulty sensor, this meant constant resetting when reporting this we were told it was an existing issue. My recommendation is for the owners to simply buy a new one. With the price we paid for this holiday home we felt it tiresome dealing with a faulty appliance. With that being said I dont want to end on a negative note this was a great house with plenty of space for all of us to enjoy a relaxing week together.

We went as an extended family for my dads 70th and had a fantastic time. The house was even nicer than expected. The kids loved the hot tub and we had such a fun evening playing pool in the basement. The person looking after the property was helpful and easy to contact. Holmfirth itself was beautiful with lots of little cafes, shops and pubs. We would happily come back.

After making the original booking, we had a lot of trouble contacting Sykes Cottages. For example, when trying to pay our balance, we could not find our booking on the website. Contact through phone calls was impossible. We ended up phoning Snaptrip, the umbrella company. In contrast, the management company was very easy to contact and responses were speedy. An example was to request a cot and highchair, which we could only do 24 hours before arrival ie couldnt contact Sykes so had to rely on management company of the property. We were very lucky there was availability of these items. Generally, the property was great. Lots of room and good facilities. However, we had one very disappointing aspect. There were 9 toilets, 7 showers and 2 baths and the owners only provided 3 hand soaps. For the money we paid, we could not understand why at least small bars of soap were not available. Why were there shower gel dispensers on the wall and nothing in them? Were the guests expected to fill them?

We had a wonderful stay. The house is absolutely beautiful and really comfortable. Rooms are spacious and beds are cozy. There was a few small critiques from all nine of us who stayed. There is no hand wash in any of the rooms and we think there should be given the price etc. Also, just small things like salt and pepper, kitchen roll, tbags and sugar would be great in the kitchen. There was a lovely welcome box with a few bits in which was great. The fridge leaked in the kitchen to the point where the floor was sodden so we had to leave a towel down the whole time. The showers have no pressure but everything else was superb. Thank you so much for having us. X

Found the property not as described. Rubbish left in bins, dust and cobwebs, outside area not clean, bbq not clean. The living room only has seating for 7 adults, we were a party of 11 adults that were expected to sit on the floor on bean bags. I would also like to say how disappointed we were with your company, when I booked, the week we would have preferred was to expensive so we opted for the later week at 4024 only to find you advertising that week for 3500

Excellent comfortable property. It was great for our family holiday with small children, parents and grandparents and a dog. Holmfirth is a lovely place to visit with plenty of interest for the whole family within the town and the surrounding area.

Great house for big group with ensuites being a big bonus. Loved the hot tub and all the outdoor seating. Loads of glasses and crockery which were needed for a big group. Having 2 dishwashers was perfect! The walking guides were really useful and the property management team were very helpful and responsive to any questions asked. The trip was just the best!

Lovely clean property with good facilities. Having two dishwashers was excellent. We enjoyed our week. Comfortable beds, some of the ensuites were a bit tight for room. Dining room was great for family meals.

Fabulous property perfect for all our family. No complaints. only issues was mould on ceiling in family room which was mentioned in the meet and greet, and an ensuite sink not draining back right upper bedroom.. everything else spot on..

We had a very enjoyable stay at The Old Post Office over New Year. The ensuite bathrooms were great even if some are rather small!. We loved the dining room, with plenty of space for everyone, and the living room was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen had all we needed, including a great range cooker. It's an easy walk into Holmfirth and we enjoyed exploring the local area. We definitely recommend this house for groups wanting a comfortable stay in a great location

What a lovely place, we usually go out for a meal on our first night away, but we ordered a takeaway instead as we wanted to stay in make the most of the lovely house and facilities. We found it very clean and well equipped. The bed's were extremely comfortable, mattress, duvet and pillows and we slept well. I took pictures of the labels so I can purchase the same back home! The host Andrea met us at the property and showed us around and was very helpful. Definitely recommend this property.

Old Post Office suited our needs well 14 family members, aged 8 to 80 Some instructions re gate were out of date, heating depended on manual setting e. G for morning shower times etc.

Excellent facilities, very clean and comfortable. Meet and great by Andrea very friendly and helpful, on hand if we needed anything or advice. Hot tub well maintained each day. We all had a fabulous stay and enjoyed ourselves. Thankyou.

A group of us stayed aged 21 71 for a long weekend to celebrate some big birthdays. We had a wonderful time, the house is lovely and plenty of room for us all for a comfortable stay and to spend time with each other. The host Andrea was so helpful and was easily contactable and responsive. Overall a really great stay and would defiantly stay again

The house was comfortable and well equipped, with plenty of room for our party of twelve. The hot tub was serviced every day and a blocked drain was fixed the same day. Due to problems with one of the boilers, there was no running hot water on the upper floor, which caused some problems, although all the showers were working OK. We were told about the lack of hot water on the day before we arrived, but there was no offer of any refund for this inconvenience throughout our stay.

We all loved this house. Clean, Comfortable, Cosy. All the utensils, glassware, china and cutlery you need for a large family. Very helpful and friendly host. Lovely situation with pub 200 yards away, Compo's chip shop 400yrs away. Holmfirth centre 12 mile. Beautiful situation.

A beautiful property in a superb location. The accommodation was extremely clean on arrival with lots of facilities within the property for all to enjoy garden space, hot tub, games, bbq, outdoor lighting, music system, games room in cellar. An absolutely fantastic property for a large group, just wonderful! Thank you so much!
