About Avaelie House

Nestled amongst trees in a secluded location in the centre of the vibrant market town Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire is Avaelie House. This wonderful, terraced, stone-fronted cottage boasts an excellent riverside location with views over the flowing Hebden River which creates tranquil surroundings; you wouldn’t even realise you are in the town's centre! This cottage also boasts an allocated parking space which is like gold dust in this bustling town, it also welcomes up to four guests in two spacious bedrooms making it ideal for couples, friends or families looking to explore West Yorkshire. After exploring the town’s attractions, cross the threshold into the living area where the electric fire creates a warm and homely atmosphere, settle into one of the plush sofas and flick on the Smart TV and peruse the films available on Netflix. Stay snuggled up while the designated chef heads to the fully-equipped kitchen to prepare a hearty meal that the whole group can enjoy at the dining table; tuck in and toast your getaway with a glass of wine. Later in the evening, step outside to soak up the last of the sun in the private patio or take a leisurely stroll along the riverside to be soothed by the sounds of flowing water. When sleep calls, retire to either the king or double room, both are furnished with storage for your belongings and are serviced by a sleek bathroom. Rest up for another fun-filled day in Hebden Bridge. Avaelie House lies just a short walk from the town’s centre where you can visit the local stores to ease your self-catered stay or visit White Lion or Old Gate Bar and Restaurant for some well-earned traditional pub fare or celebratory drinks. The centre is also home to St George’s Square and the 500 year old pack horse bridge with the wavy steps and riverside walk and of course the ducks! There is also The Trades Club, a well established venue for touring bands, be sure to get your tickets early. There is also Picture House which is one of the last independent cinemas in the country. For walkers there is spectacular scenery in all directions, with many hidden gems to discover, and for those who prefer to avoid the steep climbs there is the Hebden Beck which flows into the River Calder half a mile downstream. There is a vibrant arts scene and throughout the year there are various festivals including arts, burlesque and folk. National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill are worth a visit, especially when the Blue Pig is open, or climb the steep cobbled road to historic Heptonstall with the ruins of a mediaeval church and the graveyard where Sylvia Plath is buried. Ted Hughes’ family lived here for generations and much of his poetry was inspired by the area. Continue the literary theme in Haworth, home to the Bronte sisters with the Parsonage museum and a statue immortalising the sisters and their contribution to literature. Halifax boasts the Grade I Georgian Piece Hall where hand loom weavers went to sell the “pieces” they produced, or take the kids to Eureka, the children’s interactive museum which is nearby.
